head, meet wall

i shouldn’t even be commenting on this crap anymore, but come on:

A reader sent over a picture of a group of protesters camped outside Rep. Susan Davis’s (D-Calif.) “Neighborhood Day” event this past week, brandishing signs calling the president a Black Supremacist and suggesting he’s a Nazi disciple.

do i even need to point out that those two things are mutually exclusive???!?!?

Right, this is one of my favorite talking points. Obama’s a racist! Obama hates white people! Ok, what does that even mean? He hates himself? He hates his late mother, grandmother, etc? Wtf?

White people think that any policy that fails to work to their direct benefit is designed to destroy them. Republicans love to victimize themselves. These are the only conclusions I’m able to draw. Er, also that people are gullible and ignorant and don’t think shit through before they say it.

On a not-entirely-unrelated note I went by my mom’s house yesterday and, my god, they’ve gone the full wingnut. I didn’t even wanna talk politics but every time I thought I was out… etc. They’ve apparently only recently discovered that when you write your legislators you tend to get a form letter back. When they wrote our Senators about cap and trade the result did not include an immediate scrapping of Waxman-Markey (and yeah that’s a House bill. Shaddap!) and as far as they’re concerned this is a form of tyranny. I’ve tried to tell them in the past that phone calls are exponentially more effective but w/e, they’ve never listened before and I wouldn’t expect them to start now.

Beyond that it was tort reform, teleprompters, government takeover of health care, the GOP version of portability (where they demolish regulations so you can buy insurance across state lines instead of being able to take your current insurance with you if you move or change jobs), ACORN, HR 3200 gives the government access to bank accounts, tea parties, here’s this thing Newt Gingrich wrote recently, blah blah blah blah blah. My god. I mean pretty much the only thing they’d acknowledge was that there are no death panels, and that really didn’t seem to make a difference or induce any internal/external examination. (“Well if they’re willing to make up death panels…”)
